1873 First Model Carbine

Posted by Michael H. Collins on Tuesday, 17 April 2012, at 8:18 p.m.

I pulled the trigger on 1873 Springfield Trapdoor carbine serial number 15,812 yesterday. I should receive it in a few days. The Pictures looked good but I won't know until I get my hands on it. It sports the long wrist stock and all the other early features. We'll see. On another matter, a while back I posted the fact that an old guy was going to email me pictures of a couple of early 1st Model carbines with the 5 point star in the stock. Well I'll spare you the details but the email system didn't work for him so well, but the good old fashioned US Postal service did.The fellow is 85 or so. I'd like to send these photos to Dick along with an article or two that came with the guns. Dick if you're interested in taking a look I'll send them out to you. All I need is your mailing address.Sincerely, Michael H. Collins
