For Dick Hosmer

Posted by John Peeff on Tuesday, 20 March 2012, at 12:56 a.m.

Rock Island Auction has the accoutrements? from a British soldier who was a casualty at the battle of Lexington. The soldier from I think they said 38th Regt. of Foot evidently was wounded and crawled off and died. His body was found by a farmer named Hosmer who was plowing a day or so after the battle.Hosmer buried the soldier and kept his gear. It is not clear if the soldier was wounded at the Lexington Bridge or during the retreat back to Boston where the Brits suffered over 100 casualties because they are not sure of the exact location of Hosmer's farm.
