Thanks AL. Thats good info and something not a lot of people check for. I often wondered how this played into the accuracy given the different combinations of rear sight/front sight/model cartridge, (and who and when they were altered), for both the solider / collector firing at a know range since the both rear sights have actual yardages on them, and fooling with any of the above items will change that.

One of the reasons I like the tang mounted rear sights is they are just graduated numbers and its up to the shooter to zero the corresponding point on the sight to the range of the target. Is that the way the Springfield tang sight was on the Officers model or did it also have actual yardage marks?
