If the armory did the rear sight conversion to a rifle or a carbine, then the front sight blade was also changed. The Buffington sight blade is about twice as tall as the Buckhorn front sight blade. The Buckhorn blade has a portion that is parallel to the barrel and the Buffington blade is curved upward toward the breech.
