I re-checked my notes. Herb Spalla saw the gun sometime before 2008, when he first mentioned it to me - it was for sale at Amoskeag in 2010, with what I noted at the time as a faked stock, now it is at Salter's (perhaps in a different stock?). So, I'd very VERY careful. I could ask Herb what he logged, I suppose.

But, bottom line, to answer the original question, it is ABSOLUTELY NOT a virgin 7th Cav carbine cast aside by the Indians just after LBH, as the current spiel would suggest.
