Re: It's Official - Bullets are Tumbling( Ernie)

Let me start by re-stating that all I've shot so far are the Goex BP rounds available at Track of the Wolf. I'm not reloading yet, but am not opposed to doing so if that's what it takes to get a good round. The .477 measurement from the original post was where the bullet meets the brass. I've realized now that measurement is worthless to the overall equation and has no bearing on what is actually happening with the grooves. The unknowns with the Goex rounds are actually bullet size and hardness. Request to them for information has been met with silence. Ken, I'm interested in the bullets you mentioned. Let me know how much you want for a handful and we'll get together off line (email) and discuss specifics. I kept the brass from the Goex rounds I've fired so far. They have been washed but not cleaned in a tumbler (since I don't own one yet). I need to find out from you folks in the know what primers, black powder and lube are recommended (brand name, model and vendor). Ernie, if during this testing phase, if you would be willing to reload some test rounds for me, I'd greatly appreciate that. We can also get together offline (email) and discuss those specifics as well. I've reloaded shotgun rounds since I was knee high to a grasshopper, but am just now getting into the rifle reloads. I have a Lee Loader for the 45-70 Gov. (fondly referred to by my buddies as the "whack-a-mole method". Going to start small and work my way up. At this point, I'm just interested in getting the M73 to shoot like I know it can. I greatly appreciate the input and all the help from you folks. Thanks, -Steve W.
