Sounds like someone (not Springfield Armory) made up sort of a "pirate pistol". Hollywood has been known to do things like that.

Value will be very subjective - as a somewhat anal "purist" collector, I would have NO interest whatsoever - to me it's just a desecration of a piece of history. However, I'm sure there are those who would really like it - which is actually a good thing; if we all went after the same stuff, collecting would be extremely difficult, and insanely expensive.

If someone liked it, as a curiosity, I suppose it might fetch as much as $400-$500.
