model 1884 US Springfield Trapdoor Rifle
Posted by Maria Vannice on Thursday, 29 December 2011, at 2:24 p.m.
I am trying to find some additional information. The gun has US Springfield with an Eagle emblem on the hammer side of the gun. It has the numbers 50676 by the hammer and US 81 on the butt plate. Embossed in the wood portion of the gun, near the butt plate, is 29th SFP Co or 29th SEP Co. It is hard to differentiate between the F or E as it looks like there is a line under all of the writing. The gun is in great shape and has the original bayonet. Any additional information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
