wes, there is nothing wrong with smokless in vintage trapdoors as long as you follow the loads for VINTAGE TRAPDOORS haveing said that now comes the disclaimer[have the gun checked out buy a gun smith,and one who knows old guns. now ! as was stated before these guns were meant to shoot black.the saftey key with black is to have no air space in the loaded case when finished slug the bore ,most are larger than std 45cal [.459---.460]+/- go to BPCR web sight good info.--charles
