Missing Cam Latch Screw?

Posted by Kurt Whitekettle on Monday, 26 December 2011, at 2:04 a.m.

I have an 1866 second Allin conversion. The thumb piece (cam latch?) has a square shaft that runs through the breech block. When opened, the latch can be easily pulled straight out (removed) from the block with no resistence. The end of the square shaft looks like it is female threaded and should have a screw to hold the latch in place when completely assembled. Am I missing that screw? If so, what is that screw called and where can I get a replacement. Hopefully, I have not butchered the terms for the parts in my description too badly and you understand what I mean. Thanks, Kurt
