Where exactly were the numbers/letters located on the piece???

Are they at the rear of the receiver or on the left side of the barrel/receiver?

Harrington Richardson produced some "Officers Models" in the 1970's that had ONLY numbers on the left side of the barrel/receiver just above the stock.

Other Italian Manufactures have produced "Carbine" copies. I'm not sure how they numbered their products, but I am sure there were NO letters in the serial numbers.
