Thanks Steve. I've been wondering if the features of my rifle indicated it'd been assembled early in the 2nd run of rifles. The word MODEL on the breech block might indicate that the original block had been replaced, but I'm wondering if by the time the 2nd production of rifles started, production of the "MODEL 1870" breech block had already begun. IF that's the case, then I can safely assume that the old and the new breech blocks were mixed together in the parts bin. Thanks again Steve.
