Re: serial numbers - rewind

I have now, with the help of another poster, found the URL (which was NOT what was reported) so, the cover may not have been greatly blown. Clearly there is a difference of opinion here as to who crossed the line - I could make a case either way. But enough of that.

Both rifles are cadet models. That automatically puts them in a scarcer category (22,000 made, vs. over 400,000). I think that they would clean well - one looks almost new, under the crud. WD40 and 000 might do wonders there. The bayonets are standard length - they'll fit, because muzzles were same diameter, but are not correct. However they add at least $100 each to the total value of the package.

The seller is EXTREMELY ignorant, in fact borders on stupid. There is no shortage of basic reference material around, which any auction house worth their salt should have available.

I'm NOT bidding, but I would go at least $1200 for the pair. By the time the auction house (Lord love 'em and their MO) is through adding their charges, surcharges, fees, commissions, taxes, gratuities, levies, etc. that will be nearer $1500, of course.
