I've noted in this thread, that bore diameters are usually .459-.463. My 1884 rifle, which is like new condition, has a bore of .458. I slugged the bore to measure that. Is my bore, then, a rarity? I shoot 500 grain, 1-20 lead with SPG (?) lube ahead of 70 grains black powder which is greatly compressed. Accuracy at 100 yards, our range limit, is OK (4-6 inches). Kicks like heck tho. I made front sight inserts of various heights to get POI at different distances.
