From my experience though admittedly some of it 35 years ago, the trapdoor has been one of the most used and successful rifles in BPCR matches (400yd ram offhand bashing) this was at at time when I was shooting a rolling block. A fellow competitor let me use his 1888 and I was hooked. Lighter and better trigger pull. Anyone who is only an occaisional shooter of a particular rifle is of course fooling themselves if they think they will be able to regularly drive tacks. Additionally - I know of no serious competitor who does not roll their own pet load. This applies to modern rifles equally as well. For most of us - we hold back the accuracy of the piece not vice versa. Anyway my 2 cents.
