John- when the projectile is seated against the rifling, the rifling sort of keeps the head "stuck" in the case mouth milliseconds longer, this can , under the right conditions cause a dangerous spike in pressure. This is illustrated in one of Speer's reloading manuals, Number 10 I think, I dont remember. What bullet are you using? I dont recall any lead bullets having a "crimping" groove. Trapdoor 405's should have grooves for lube and taper crimped if anything.
