I'm using 30-1 I'm not a machineist either,& have not worked in a machine shop for 24 years. I talked to my gunsmith about this ( a GOOD one) he said with what he has he could only come close , not on the money. Some have measured odd barrels by wrapping a feeler gauge around & subtracting double the feeler gauge thickness.I don't feel that this would be accurate with a 3 groove with that much distance between high points where the feeler gauge may not follow the actual curvature & may also be easily & unnoticeably compressable. I wonder how well that would work on a .30 5 groove ?
