Chandler, look closely at the"SW" 1892 stamp on the stock. It should be "SWP" 1892. SWP is the initial of the final inspector ( Samuel W. Porter } of the gun. The 1892 is the year of finial assembly and inspection of the gun at the Springfield Armory. Other information may be derived from the serial number located on back top side of the receiver just left of the hammer. You may have to move the hammer to see the full serial number. What is the barrel length measured inside the barrel with breech block closed from breech block to muzzle of barrel, 22 in (carbine) or 32+in (rifle)?
