Steve, you might try "Track of the Wolf" They sell all sorts of black powder loadnig accessories and products including black powder and black powder cartridges for a wide variety of pistol and rifles, including the .45-70. These loads are made with Goex 2Fg and loaded with 405 gr lead bullets. I recently got some to try out, but with the heat wave we are currently living under, I haven't felt like getting out in 105 to 108 degrees to try them. Give them a try and see how they work. I tried some Black Hills ammo but the accuracy was non existent and the bullets key-holed every time which probably meant that they were sized too small. Most of these loads are probably meant for more modern rifles like the lever actions which have somewhat smaller bores than the old Springfields. I loaded a few myself and got much better accuracy which told me something about the currently available factory loads. I'll see how the Black Dawg cartridges work as soon as the temperatures come down a little. Good luck.
