Re: Infantry belt

Remember, that the army was using up older items, including belts. so an issue of the 1872 or 1874 patterns would not be out of place for the 1880's. You used, "trooper", while denoting your infantry status, so I am a little confused. Douglas McChristian books, published by the University of Oklahoma Press, can give you a better idea of what you are seeking. Are you wanting a prairie belt, for a field impression, or the leather belt for a more garrison look? Doug goes into details on the various models of prairie belts and their various adaptation. My infatnry impression is of the 1873-1875 era, so I use mostly M1872 equipments and a .50-70 rifle with a homemade thimble belt.
