Thanks Dick. Thanks Ernie. It's always interesting to learn what you and the other guys can discern about trapdoors. I should've noticed those details myself. I've forgotten much over the past 30 years since I first bought and studied "Trapdoor Springfield" by Waite and Ernst and Al Fraska's fine first volume on the subject of 45/70 Trapdoors. Maybe I should sell off my diversified small collection of interesting firearms and just concentrate on trapdoors while they can still be had for reasonable prices. Well, I ought to get another fine U.S. Krag rifle just to have one to drool over in my golden years while I sing the old song to myself that my old grandpa taught me..."Damn damn damn the inserec-to's...".
