Re: LBH Day

Posted by Keogh on Sunday, 26 June 2011, at 6:22 p.m., in response to LBH Day, posted by Hank McCleary on Saturday, 25 June 2011, at 10:42 p.m.

Yesterday June 25th, the 135th anniversary of the Battle of The Little Big Horn was an appropriate time to rekindle the Custerana thread.

Unfortunately, to the casual reader or beginning student of the events of 6-25-76 the post by JM presents and old "story" that surfaces from time to time. Early on in the fight GAC is shot in the chest by a warrior while leading a charge across the LBH river. Another version of this "story" has the half-breed scout Mitch Bouyer shooting GAC at a ford and escaping back over the river to join his red brethren.

These "stories" like the Kennedy assassination theories make interesting reading. but have little evidence of truth. The danger of these et al is some will take them as truth without further study.

While seemingly O T the 1873 Trapdoor carbine will always be teamed with Custer and the LBH 6-25-76.
