Would it not be more impressive to do it with black powder? Certainly much more satisfying.

Some will poo-poo it, but really some of the dynamics of firing small charges of smokeless (nitro) powder in large roomy cartridge cases have never been fully understood, and "unexplained" blowups have happened.

I hope I am not socially outcast from the board for voicing such concerns, perhaps that is taboo here. I'm just a true believer in using black powder in old black powder rifles that fire black powder cartridges. And, with black powder they can be just as, or more accurate with black, as with smokeless loads.

Vintage Mausers, Lee Enfields and Mosin-Nagants are all great old rifles to fire smokeless powder in.
