No, not in the sense of cutting one down, or converting one to the other. What I meant is that it is theoretically POSSIBLE that a loose receiver that had once been on a rifle COULD have been used to REPAIR a carbine, at an ordnance depot. IMHO, that is the ONLY way that combination could exist - and, since the date doesn't work out, you'd constantly be "explaining" the problem, every time you showed the gun. The scenario is HIGHLY unlikely, for the normal MO was to obtain barreled receivers from SA. So, bubba was the most likely assembler.
