There is no information recorded for that serial number. Is there a stamp in the wood on the left side of the gun, just to the rear of the rear lock-plate screw? Does the barrel have three broad grooves, equal in width to the lands, or six?

The bayonet COULD be original to the rifle, but 40 years is NOT a long look-back, as those things go, and is in fact still well inside the "modern collecting era". I'd guess the chances of them actually being a "set" from time of use are about nil, in all honesty.
