You are most correct.
The rifle "should" have a Buffington sight.
Build date was Jan-Mar. 1888
The Buffingtom became standard issue in 1885 at "about" serial 294,000.
The Buffington is not as sturdy as the '79's but way more accurate.
Still, we have seen items that appear wrong on so many TD's that the lines are starting to blur.
If all else is correct the sight issue is easy to correct. Two or more misses & she's been messed with by Bubba (Dick's identifier).
