John, You mention you know of no other sight adjustment system before the 03 and Krag. How could you forget "THE MARKSMANS KIT" sold by Capt. N.B. Thornton 99 Fourth St. New York. this precision tool in its original wood box with accessories made for the U.S. M-1879 sights at Creedmoor and other fine target ranges? Just get your set of "TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD NEWSLETTERS" out and look in V-4 issue 1 fall 2001 on page 142. I believe a fine craftsman could duplicae this tool with just a quick trip to Ace hardware for a coulle of easily obtained items.
