An outfit called Redmonds somewhere in Oregon or Washington or Montana is supposed to do great jobs relining stuff. I would ask their opinion and go with whatever they recommend.

.32-40 is a great old caliber, and rather modest with pressures (I think) so leaving in that caliber may be good, if possible.

New barrel for shooting would be okay, but destroy the collector value. Forget about finding a decent original barrel.
