My logging of carbines (close to 1100 now) has had the side benefit of also identifying (by elimination) some likely ranges for the early rifles as well - so I'm not surprised about 9260.

8149 and 12313 were also rifles, despite the fact that 12221 was a pretty well-known carbine. And, after a brief stint as a cadet (courtesy of TG) it has now been reincarnated as a put-together carbine.
