1884 trapdoor

Posted by Ron Miller on Tuesday, 22 March 2011, at 7:09 p.m.

I inherited a 1884 Trapdoor that my father purchased as an investment in the 70's. I would like to sell it but do not know if it has any significant value. I have read all the posts on your site and gathered the info that appears significant. The model number is difficult to read but appears to be model 1884. The serial number is 317968 and it has a cartouche with 1891. The cartouche appears to be SAP but could be something else(lettering is strange)The barrel is marked with a stacked vp. It has a round cleaning rod/bayonet and Buffington rear site. There is a bullet stored in the butt plate. I would like to know more about it but do not know where to go. Any help is appreciated. Thank you
