That is very interesting. What about bullets from the .50-70?

From Dusan Farrington's superb, and EXHAUSTIVELY researched, 600 page book "Arming and Equipping the US Cavalry 1865-1902" it does appear that a few Starrs were in service with the 2nd Cav during June 1866. None are shown in similar reports for 1867, OR thereafter. I had not realized that they came West at all.

The stations shown were in Colorado and Kansas. Perhaps I have misread or misinterpreted something, and, if I have, I hope that he will straighten me out.
