Re: Pre-1873 Carbines

Mr.Farrington,

I believe what I'm looking for, is what carbines that F troop, 3rd Cav would have used around 1869-1873. Also, K troop, First Cav under Col.George B. Sanford, if that helps. During the activities around Camp Grant, Ft.Bowie, Camp Apache in Arizona.

Then I'm curious if the 3rd and Second Cavalry under the command of Crook, in 1876, in his campaigns on the Rosebud, at around the same time of the Custer defeat had received Springfield carbines yet. Is it correct that the 7th had just recently turned in their old Sharps or Spencers for the Springfield? (before the battle of the Big Horn)

Okay, thanks in advance if you have any of that information.

ken y.
