Tyler, Good news and bad news. The serial number from your first post did not show up in the SRS books but the closest was 531525 that was issued to the 8th New York in 1898 and many others in the 531 range show various New york regimental issues. So good news it was issued to the 13th N.Y. Now the bad news it was issued to the 13th. N.Y. in 1898 several New york regiments were called to muster for service in the spanish war. All regiments were mustered rapidly EXCEPT the 13th.Most of whome refused to go to their armory and in a rage Governor Black ordered the regiment disbanded and those that did serve were assigned to the 22nd New York infantry. Hope this answers your first and second posts.
