Hello Charles,

I checked out 449037 in all four VOLUMES of the "S.R.S. SERIAL NUMBERS OF U.S. MARTIAL ARMS", and there was only ONE (1) S/n in the entire 449000-series, that being 449309 on Page 38 in VOLUME-3. It happens to be a Model 1884 Carbine (Code "84C") attributed on 06-13-1896 to TROOP A of the 10th CAVALRY. For example, in VOLUME-2 (on Page 48) the S/Ns jumped directly from 448477 over to 450204 (both being Model 1884 Service Rifles ["84R"]). In VOLUME-1 (Page 26) they jumped from 445992 (a Model 1884 Service Rifle) directly over to 452011 (a Model 1884 Carbine). And in VOLUME-4 they jumped from 445532 directly over to 453614 (both Model 1884 Service Rifles).

Sorry, but that wasn't very much help to you.

Best regards,

PETE
