M77 Type I Carbine sight

Posted by Al Frasca on Saturday, 26 February 2011, at 8:12 p.m.

I received a box of sights and sight parts from George Sears the other day and in it was a very different ladder with a M77 slider. The ladder starts at 7 and stops at 12. The spacing for the 100 yard marks are uniform except the spacing between the 700 and 800 yard markins are truncated. Also there are 25 yard ticks on the ladder rather than 50 yard marks. So, I took it to the show today and a bunch of us suggested solutions. Well when I came home, I checked the base marking on the Type II M77 carbine sight and found that it does not peak at 600 yards. However, one of the "pre" M79 carbine bases without the serrations on the ramp ends at 600 yards. I will be doing more checking, but when I am more confident in the result, it will be on Trapdoor News located on the web site.
