Re: "New" 1884

Thanks, Dick. I definitely have an 1884 with an incorrect 1890 stock, but the trigger assembly would be appropriate post 1888 from what I have read. It also does not seem to "fit" the stock very well. I am inclined to see how my 1873 trigger assembly fits for the heck of it. The finish on the receiver, barrel, and breech block is outstanding and appears to be original. The butt plate is a civil war leftover and the lock plate is pretty average in terms of finish. I already have a request in to Al for a replacement stock, if it is a better match to the SN. Otherwise, I will get a ramrod stop, cleaning rod and call it a day. I paid a little over $600 for this gun and am not surprised that it isn't "perfect". Cary
