Re: Re-taper a barrel?

Well, I've never done it, or even seen it done, but the amount of metal to be removed is not large, and I assume the procedure must be fairly simple. I'd think one would start the new taper just past the markings. Emery cloth would clean up the tool marks; then it's on to remounting the front sight and finally the rebluing. Have no idea why your muzzle diameter is correct but the crown doesn't look right. Guess it COULD be that someone recrowned a damaged carbine barrel? Serial numbers are very important, but there ARE occasional (apparently legitimate) non-sequitors. Don't have my SRS stuff at the store, so cannot comment on 212xxx. The whole 2xxxxx range is a kind of backwater for TDs, as absolutely NOTHING "interesting" happened during that time - no rare models - no historical highlights.
