That would be just about right on. I looked through my "repro" copy of Ordnance Memoranda 22 ["FABRICATION OF SMALL ARMS"] to see whether the Springfield Armory specified the fractional sizes or the decimal equivalents for the threaded fasteners, but I could not locate that particular operation in the section of the FORGING DEPARTMENT process for Barrel-Making.
But, yes - - that would be a 5/32" x 26-tpi thread. In the "TABLE OF IRON AND STEEL FOR COMPONENT PARTS OF THE SPRINGFIELD RIFLE, CARBINE, SWORD-BLADES, ETC." (on Pages 22-23 of OM 22) the raw material for the "Rear-Sight Base Screws, two" it lists "0.007 pounds of 0.215" round "Iron or De-Carburized Steel" bar stock. And there is no information given on the final sizes or the details of drilling and tapping the two holes in the Barrel.
I'm afraid that this really isn't much help.
