Pete,

You are a life-saver. I want to get this rifle back together. I just received some original screws from Al and am looking forward to their installation. I understand what you're saying about the holes and I think I only have a problem with the first turn of threads since I can't get the screw started. I have no intentionof torquing the screws down and will now likely use red loctite to keep the base on. I didn't want to to that, but I have the M79 sight cleaned and put together. I also have the barrel cleaned-up as much as possible. So, once the rear sight is installed, there shouldn't be a reason to remove it from the barrel for another 50 years, if it's kept clean, etc. Let me know if your tap works, and I will email you my contact info. Again, I am happy to offset any cost to you.

Cary
