Pete

What I wouldn't give for a set of taps & dies my father brought away from Pratt & Whitney after the War. He had at one time EVERY conceivable size/pitch/diameter available. But, alas they have ALL vanished after his death.

As to the #8-32unf-2a, it is really not close at all unless you substitute the screw. Not what we want to do!! This is the only tap I have needed when working on TD's. I have searched the web & lots of dusty old bins looking for the .157-26 to no avail.

A tap "could" be made by milling a vertical cut into the threads of a Reproduction screw from Ed Knisely. They will get the job done but the screw will only work a couple times before it is also ruined. Better than nothing at $3.00 each.

Ernie
