Well, searching by number STILL doesn't work, but "officers" did the trick.
What a sad sight. Appears to be close in time to mine, as the stock appears to have originally been prepped for the single-screw tang sight, which was so bad it did not last long.
Actually the guy has been pretty honest in his presentation - the basic gun IS real, including the Stillman device, but it has surely been defaced.
I suppose there IS enough there to save, if one wanted an OM badly enough. The rod isn't too bad, a better Beach could be found, etc.
The barrel sight is not OM either - no "50", but at least it is not offensive, and could be left as is.
As to the wood, a real artisan could insert a panel - cut all the way back to the buttplate, matched for color and grain which would be a HUGE improvement.
Remember, we are talking just 477 guns, which usually sell WELL up into five digits. If you could get that for maybe $6000, and put another $4000 into fixing it up, you're still ahead of the game.
If you want to see a FAKE (as opposed to the elder abuse discussed here) look at the one directly below it.
