You apparently have a Model 1868 Rifle, .50-70, made in 1870. While not a conversion of a complete rifle which had existed previously, MANY parts were altered or re-used from the huge stock of CW muskets on hand. This explains the 1863 lockplate. The rifle, as it presently exists, was not used in the Civil War.
