If it's been in the family all this time it has VALUE way beyond a dollar amount.

Count yourself as blessed that someone thought you responsible enough to be the "keeper" of this important piece of American History. Altered or not.

Clean it up carefully & have it inspected by a competent Gunsmith if you intend to fire it. Other wise, it's a family treasure and should be kept for the next generations.

I have several TD's in my collection that are "not right" but I "love the gun" & will not part with them.
