I believe it started off talking about the Model 1873 with stacking swivel, then went on to list the other carbine models. By the time they got to talking about the specific gun and value they were talking about the Model 1879.

Only the Model 1873 had the stacking swivel band for the carbine and most of those were later replaced with bands without swivels. Thus their statement that unaltered examples of any of the models are hard to find is right on.

I agree it was confusing and that it is easy to get the impression that they are talking about the 1873 carbine the whole time.
