Something STILL appears to be amiss - if an 1884-marked (it is, isn't it?) breechblock is TRULY flush at the sides with a five-digit receiver, it has been ground down. The width of both components was increased by about 3/64" at 96300 - that's not much, but it CAN be clearly seen/felt.

Another question - just below the hinge pin, where the block goes under the "ears" - what are the shapes of the corners of the cuts in the receiver? Sharply squared off, or one small continuous rounded line? That will determine the type of receiver without any dependence on markings.
