Thanks Dick for your feedback. The date of manufacture is very important. I can`t seem to find any references to Bidwell thru the Benton lead. Benton is a very tiny cross-road town. If you go Google Earth it will show only a few blocks worth of an all but abandoned town. I also agree that the name Bidwell is not a very common name , which can be to our advantage. The Bidwell that keeps popping up is the editior of the NewYork magazine `Eclectic Magazine`. Interestingly he was a part land owner - speculator of an area in the river drainages into the Missisippi river near the Missouri-Illinois Border. I can`t seem to find out if he had any children but I`m not giving up. The Conn lead is an interesting one with that person`s death comming at 22 years of age but I can`t come up with further information. Speculation is very interesting but it doesn`t prove anything. I`m far from giving up!! Thanks for your help in trying to solve the mystery and I`d welcome hearing any info that anyone might be able to come up with. This is an exciting search for history, especially for # 313027.
