1873 trap questions
Posted by JaDub on Thursday, 9 December 2010, at 4:33 p.m.
I`m looking at purchaseing an 1873 trapdoor serial # 313,027. Research shows this to be made in 1885........ 39,000 made. There are no cartouches visible, however the owner, thru his research was told that it was probably an `armory restock` that had no inspection marks and that only `arsenal replacements` did. Also... the metal work stands a bit `proud` of the woodwork in some places. Owner claims this is not unusual. Anything I should look for that this gun should have? I understand there are numerous `mix-masters` out there and I don`t want to end up with one of those. This will be my first trapdoor and don`t want to make a mistake. Thanks for your time and dedication........... especially to newbys like myself.
Thanks, Jeff Winter Denver
