Hi Tom, Use the ideas that everybody has suggested. Try using a .50 caliber Bore Snake in addition to these. Lead can be a problem to remove, but with elbow grease it can be taken out. The Model 1882 Headless Shell Extractor can be used to a certain extent, but if you do, use it CAREFULLY. Oil the bore before using it. This tool has raised areas that match the twist rate and grooves of the barrel, so be sure it is inserted to match the grooves, and push carefully through the bore. The Ordnance Dept. published instructions for the use of this tool, and can be found in the book "Trapdoor Springfield", by Waite and Earnst. I also have Wolf's book and have patterned all my cartridges after his works for my '84. Excellent book. I have had very good luck with my loadings. Good shooting and Good luck. Regards, Ken
