US Springfield Armory 1894

Posted by Shannon Hunt on Wednesday, 8 December 2010, at 2:34 p.m.

I was reading a response from Dick Hosmer indicating that there were very few five digit guns refering to the springfield 1894 30-40 krag. Im not sure what that means but I may have one. In 1997 when my grandfather Joe Hunt passed away he left me his small but very nice collection of guns. I never really looked at them as they have been put away. I was interested in finding out more about them and while doing some research discovered Mr. Hosmer's response. The gun I have is in very good condition has never been modified and is serial numbered: 19802. It is stamped as follows:

U.S. 1894 Springfield Armory 19802

but does not have a number 22 anywhere after that. Only the serial number. All parts are original...can you tell me more about it or can you direct me where to find more info. Thankyou. I would be more than happy to give you my cell phone to discuss if possible. Thanks again, sincerely Shannon Hunt
