I'd think that more parts of the original 84XRB could have been used if they were not too worn. The 84 stock has MORE wood, both in the rod channel and the OA length, than the M88 - a few minutes with the final shaping cutters would have made it usable. Ditto the barrel - replace the latch and add a sight - voila.

Has an 88 yet surfaced with a documented 84 SRS number, or are we just making the fairly obvious (from numbers found, plus rarity of unaltered 84s) supposition?
